Steeds vaker komen merken niet alleen met een lookbook, maar ook met een bijpassend filmpje voor hun nieuwe collecties. Hieronder een aantal mooiste van afgelopen jaar. Als je een kleine inspiratieboost nodig hebt en tijd over hebt kun je hier prima een middagje mee vullen! 'Cause Monday I'm in love... with these freshly shot video's! Dit is een van de weinig filmpjes die ik starend en met mijn mond wagenwijd open heb bekeken. Experiment No. 9 is een pareltje, ontstaan door een samenwerking tussen Tell No One en SHOWstudio. Het filmpje moest de fotografie van Nick Knight belichamen, die zich los heeft gelaten op het summer issue van AnOther Magazine. Dit filmpje spat eruit door het inkt op een nat papier-effect, de écoline waar je vroeger mooie schilderijen van moest maken, blazend door je rietje. Of het de combinatie van slow-motion en 'fast-motion' is, of de flinterdunne, haast vliegende jurken. Ik weet het niet. Maar dit filmpje heeft zeker indruk gemaakt.

I have watched this kaleidoscopic short film with open mouth. It is called Experiment No.9, and it has sprouted from a collaboration with Tell No One and SHOWstudio for the summer issue for AnOther Magazine. It had to be inspired by the photography done by Nick Knight. Tell No One gained loads of points in the past minutes. They create incredible creative films, and this one is my personal favourite. The setting is colourful, like ink dripped on a wet paper. Maybe it is the combination between slow-motion and 'fast-motion', the sounds or the drapery dresses, but Experiment No.9 should be more than just a film. How about a perfume?


Dit aandoenlijke filmpje gaat over Kenyan en Grace, een koppel dat in Amerika woont. Het zijn verwoede vintageliefhebbers en struinen zoveel mogelijk bijzondere plekken af naar oude dingen. Van de gekochte producten maken ze weer nieuwe dingen. Kenyan is van mening dat spullen die er al een heel leven op hebben zitten juist mooier zijn dan elke week iets winkelen bij de H&M. "Het is heel bijzonder te bedenken waar zo'n product vandaan komt en wat voor leven het object heeft gehad."

I absolutely enjoyed watching this video about Kenyan & Grace, living in the United States. They look for antique things in special places to renew them. Stuff that already lived a life is more precious than to buy something brand new every week. "It is very special to think about where a product comes from and what kind of life it has had."

Liu Wen schittert magisch in dit korte filmpje van AnOther Magazine. Alle kleding is van Emporio Armani, dit filmpje is namelijk het bewegende beeld achter de editorial die in het fall-winter issue staat. Het prachtige lange haar reflecteert het helle tl-buislicht, en hoewel ik normaal niet zo gecharmeerd ben van parkeergarages (vrees, of fobia mag je het wel noemen) komt de omgeving in dit filmpje prachtig uit. Heel onwerkelijk en ver weg.

Liu Wen is enchanting in this beautifully shot video from AnOther Magazine. It only features Emporio Armani clothing, as this video is detached to an editorial for the fall-winter issue. The reflection and the unrealistic, moreover futuristic, shots in this underground garage are aesthetically perfection.


Terug in de tijd met LØV voor Vanessa Bruno. Kate Bosworth speelt glansrijk zichzelf, alleen dan in de teruggespoelde versie. Haar grote passen en de lege architectuur zorgen voor een clean beeld, waarin elk detail onbedoeld uitvergroot wordt. Het sfeertje doet me denken aan Scandinavië, de leegte, de natuur en het meisje met de blonde lokken. Ik dacht dat ik het hele 'rewind'-concept wel een beetje gezien had, maar voor dit filmpje maak ik een uitzondering.

Back in time with LØV from Vanessa Bruno. Kate Bosworth plays herself, but in a rewinded version. Her big steps and the emptiness of the architecture create a clean sculpture, in which every detail gets remarkably magnified. The vibe reminds me of the Scandinavian air, with the wide nature and the girl with her blonde hair. I thought I'd had it with the whole rewind-concept, but for this short film, I do make an exception.

ART | Andrew Salgado

Andrew Salgado is een fantastisch kunstenaar en schilder, spelend met frisse kleuren en kwasten van verschillende dikte. Ik vind zijn werken fantastisch, hij gooit alle regeltjes uit het raam en maakt zijn eigen futuristische, surrealistische werken met wat kwasten en heel veel fantasie. Misschien ziet het er simpel uit en zie je liever gedetailleerde portretten, maar geloof me, dit is onmogelijk moeilijk. Voor een opdracht van Beeldende Vormgeving heb ik me eens een maand vastgepind op het leren van deze techniek, en het Groot Stratenboek uit je hoofd leren is er niks bij. Aan het einde van de maand staarde ik vrij hopeloos naar wat mijn grove portret voor moest stellen en begon aan Plan B: kleien. Andrew is een net-geen-dertiger, en dat betekent dat we nog heel lang van deze meneer mogen genieten. Begin eens met zijn website, waar je vrijwel al zijn werken in HD terug kunt vinden.

Andrew Sagado is an amazing artist and painter, painting with this variety of strokes and colours. I really like what he does by throwing out the rules of portret-painting and go along with a thick brush and loads of imagination. It might look quite simple, but I remember trying this style for an Art assignment and I failed the hardest. After working on that painting for almost a month, the result was still abominable. Andrew is almost thirty years old, and has a promising future if you consider all of the above. I'm extremely anxious for his work to be.

NEW IN | Burgundy Nailpolish

Ik weet dat jullie dood worden gegooid met bordeaux-rood, maar deze aankopen kon ik jullie niet onthouden. Ik struikelde afgelopen week over een blog, geen idee meer welke precies, met deze nagellak kleurtjes erin. Budgetbeest dat ik ben, rende ik de eerste de beste Kruidvat binnen. Ik ben nog niet achter de plakgarantie van deze Essence-lakjes, één dag hebben ze in ieder geval al overleefd. Ze kosten (met een speciale 35%-korting actie) €1,29 per stuk! Go get them tigers!

I could hear you guys thinking: 'Well, freshfix is falling for burgundy, but does she has anything in that colour?' I must honestly answer that with no. No, until yesterday. I stumbled across these nailpolish from Essence, one of the cheapest cosmetic brands in town. Dutchies can get it at Kruidvat and foreigners living in Europe and Russia are also lucky. I bought colour 60, titled Fateful Desire (I thought it was fatal desire) and the glitterish one is colour 72, titled Time for Romance. I've only put glitters on my ring finger, as a cheap version of an engagement-ring. The nailpolish is darker red than it shows on the pictures, caused by the daylight and flash. I can't already tell you if the nailpolish is long-lasting, but I predict it won't. It already passed the guitar-playing-test, that's the good news. I literally dived into the trashcan to find the receipt. I do a lot for a good blogpost. The nailpolishes cost €1,29 per piece, and that's nearly nothing for flaunting with the autumn-trend on your nails!

DESIGN | Inspiring interiors

Nude, beige, retro, ongepolijst en rauw. Dat is samengevat alles wat ik maar blijf rechts-klikken en opslaan. Simpele designs, mooie tinten en briljante ideeën. Ik heb een soortgelijke stoel als in de 'witte grot', en hoewel ik er nu nooit op zit weet ik zeker dat het mijn lievelingsplek zou worden als ik ook een bijbehorende grot had. Helaas woon ik in een nieuwbouwhuis in een plat land. Alle foto's komen van Desiretoinspire, een van mijn favoriete blogs als het gaat om interieurdesign. Ze laten veel verschillende stijlen zien en hebben briljante gimmicks. Ben je de 'Monday, pets on furniture' al tegen gekomen? Mopshondjes matching met het interieur.

This saturday, I will finally get to spend some time with my boyfriend. It's like we live in opposite worlds, when I go to bed, he nearly even finished work. When my alarmclock shouts, he just slept in for a couple of hours. That's why I am looking forward to a small trip to our capital city Amsterdam. In the morning, we will take the ferry to the KNSM-island, where the IJhallen are located. Over 400 stands will sell their goods in a gigantic shed. After a little vintage shopping, we'll be heading to the AMFI, Amsterdam Fashion Institute, for a sneak peek into the Fashion & Branding study. 5 november is also the Museumnacht. Over 45 different museums will open their doors for music and video installations, DJ's, bars and more. I guess you could say that I'm kind of excited... With this shopping spree in sight, here is my wishlist for november (and the months following).

- Anything with dalmatian print, like this leather jacket I showed you guys before, or nailwrap with little spots.
- A faux fur coat, but I can't decide which one. This ASOS one is pretty, with a creme and black colourblocking effect. I'm looking fur a decadent coat like this since forever, but I'm not too sure if I will wear it that often. The tiny little village I live in won't like it, that's for sure. Blogger Betty rocks it though!
- My closet lacks a LBD, and with the holidays coming, I finally should get one. I've tried this Zara Cape Dress on, but it didn't fit me that great. Extra detail: it was too hot for that petite fitting room. No dress will ever look good on me with a red face above it!
- I'm guilty. I do have a lot of shoes that I don't wear that much. I can see myself wobbling to the bus stop on my highest black heels. Nevertheless, you all know the cliche, I need more. Chunky heels with firm details, like these from Cafe Moda. My sister thought they were a little 'red light district', so I'm not ordering them before I can see them in real-life.
- A black leather skirt or trousers, for the perfect edge to every outfit.
- I've spotted one at Zara's, but prefer this ASOS black fedora.
- FashionNerdic dived into the H&M and came out with this silver hardware. She warns us that its quality isn't that great, but hey, we know that from H&M, don't we? H&M is playing sneaky games with us, fashion addicts...
- The perfect white blouse, with tailored fit. Or just some studs so I can decorate one of my old collars.
- Anyone's still looking for a Céline knock-off? Pink Bullet (never heard of it before) came up with this snake printed one. Did someone find the lammy version? I'm here, pick me!
- Something with sequins, like an oversized clutch (no problem if it's leather though), or minidress.
- I add these Savannah Python boots to the list. This is a pre-order, can't wait to see all the colourcombinations on the website!

EDITORIAL | Mirror, mirror on the wall...

Zodra ik een spiegel in een editorial spot ben ik weg. De spiegels worden zowel in reclames als in editorials altijd zo achterhaald en clichématig gebruikt. Tof dat je het gezicht van een model in twintigvoud kunt zien, maar het is al een keertje gedaan. Numéro verraste me met 'Jeux de Mirroirs', een editorial waarin de spiegel centraler staat dan de kleding. Met zo'n uitgangspunt wordt het interessant.. Neerlands (onbekende) trots Anna Rijk mocht de duinen nader bekijken, met een fantastisch effect. De beelden zijn kaleidoscopisch en kunstzinnig. Daarnaast is het überhaupt al knap dat er in geen een spiegel een verdwaald crew-lid te zien is!

Stunning! Editorials which contain mirrors are often obsolete and cliche. Numéro obviously knows how to do it better. In their October-edition, they've sent Dutchie Anna Rijk to the dunes of well, it looks like they've chosen a complete Holland-theme! The Numéro-team has used the mirrors so well, it looks more like art than fashion. And did anyone noticed there is no photographer or stylist in any mirror? Must've been hard...
