Kunstenaar Jiang Pengyi beschrijft ze als 'gigantische wolkenkrabbers, verkleind tot miniatuurformaat', bedoeld om het debat over enorme verstedelijking en vervuiling in Beijing opnieuw aan te wakkeren. Op het eerste gezicht liep ik de foto's zo voorbij, in de enorme rotzooi merk je de kleine kunstwerkjes niet snel op. Undercover cities, hidden by their habitat. Surrounded by ruin, trash and decay, these small buildings found their homes. Artist Jiang Pengyi describes them as 'massive skyscrapers reduced to miniature sizes' and made them to focus on her recurrent themes of excessive urbanization, redevelopment and demolition in Beijing.
