Omvergeblazen door een broekie. Deze Pedro Lourenco (vergeef me het missende accentje onder de 'c', Macs zijn hels met symbolen) is een nieuwkomer op de catwalk, en zonder twijfel de beste onder zijn mede 21-jarigen. Deze Braziliaan zwoor prints af voor zijn Spring/Summer collectie, en ging op de futuristische eco-tour. Pedro keek namelijk naar de toekomst voor ons ecosysteem en gebruikte daarom alleen maar milieuvriendelijke materialen, hiernaast leken de vormen en figuren van de kledingstukken ook nogal out of space. Futurisme van twee kanten. Met de zolen van zijn schoenen -gemaakt van wijnkurken- ging hij misschien iets te ver, aan de andere kant compenseren de metallic accenten en opvallend creatief kleurgebruik.
Wow. Amazed by this upcoming designer named Pedro Lourenco, with a fancy accent on that 'c'. I'm not quite sure what those squares on the hips do, I don't think it is a successful alternative for maternityjeans, but it works out great. The colours are also well chosen, all outfits consist of a basic colour, mixed with a bright detail in the same colour. I can't deny my current fetish for everything shiny as a disco ball, even though I've hated these glossy sweaters in my childhood. It's clear I fell for this Pedro, I'll hire him as personal dresser soon.
Balmain combineert sophisticated en chique op een tijdloze manier. Kijk hoe dat rauwe denim afsteekt bij de embellished gouden details, de strakke kapsels en de franjes aan het witte jasje. Door de cowboy-achtige riemen heeft de show ergens iets weg van de hoofdstraat van een Westernspaghetti, vol stofwolken, langswaaiende hooiballen en paarden die slecht geparkeerd voor de cafés staan.
Balmain is on the run with their sophisticated and classy pieces. Did they only show bleached and torned jeans a year ago, this Spring/Summer show proves they got more style. The raw denim looks seem totally the opposite of the embellished looks that the golden details give. Because of the cowboy-ish belts and accessories the looks akin to a Westernworld in which the models ride their horses to small dark cafés and only leave a trace of dust behind.
Nee, Maison Martin Margiela heeft zich niet laten inspireren door Oosterse blinden. Beiden kwamen echter wel in de show terug, in pony's die getoupeerd voor de ogen hingen en een catwalk van Perzische tapijten. In de kledingstukken zie je de Oosterse invloeden pas in de tweede helft van de show terug, in de prints van de maxiskirts bijvoorbeeld. Overall zijn de stukken klassiek, fantastisch gestyled en vooral ontzettend simpel met een twist. De gewikkelde blauwe jurk doet me denken aan een monnikengewaad, maar zou niet misstaan op een Oscar's uitreiking. De kapsels zijn overigens een heerlijk idee voor aan last minute-ochtend. Touperen, haarlak en wat schuifspeldjes leveren een creatief geheel af!
The main sources of inspiration for this Maison Martin Margiela show were Eastern blinds. The catwalk was made of Persian rugs and you couldn't get a glance of the models eyes. Nevertheless, the show was awesome. The Eastern influence was visible in the prints of the maxiskirts in the second half of the show. Furthermore, there were loads of simple pieces with little twists, like the dark blue dress that's literally twisted. It kind of reminds me of a Tibetan monk, but it wouldn't clash on an award show.
Favoriet van de Paris Fashionweek is ongetwijfeld fashionhouse Balenciaga, geleid door de fantastische Nicolas Ghesquiere. De show zat vol met conceptuele, tegendraadse mode. Zo kwamen er veel bombastische schouderstukken voorbij en was er in alle stukken aan de geometrische vormen gedacht. De jurk hierboven bestaat uit symmetrische kleurvlakken en ook de powerjackets waren op die manier ingedeeld. Bordeaux kwam voorbij, een kleur die vooral voor komende herfst/winter veel getipt wordt, maar ook de rest van de show liet zien dat Balenciaga met hun kleurpalet trends gaat zetten. Knaloranje, mintgroen en paarsbordeaux bijvoorbeeld.
My favourite of Paris Fashionweek so far is, without a doubt, the fashionhouse of Balenciaga led by the amazing Nicolas Ghesquiere. The show was stuffed with conceptual fashion and somewhere made me think of the latest Alexander Wang show in New York. It could be the 'big' stiff jackets that resemble to the bikerjackets Wang showed. Just a figment. Also notable: the colourpalette Balenciaga showed. Bright orange, mint and a purple shade of bordeaux for example.
