INSPIRATION | Freunde von Freunden

"Maybe there is a typical Berliner, but there is a constant movement, like in New York. So whoever comes here has to become a Berliner. And a Berliner can be so many things. I don’t find them tricky and difficult. They have a certain attitude towards life and you just have to respect them the way they are and they open up."

"When I was young we basically had two options; either you were a soccer fan, and if you didn’t like that kind of culture or environment, you got involved with art. The only ‘escape’ from what was happening there, was becoming an artist. It was, more than just taking a decision, it came naturally."

"You have options to specialise in the graphic design, theatre, textiles, industrial design, all fine art and I did a few different ones but I decided that I wasn’t really interested in doing things that have practical applications. I wanted to do things that were about humanity, about why are we here, having something to reflect that deals with metaphysics, with something more than what is just physical- like ideas, things that are communicated through images."

Freunde von Freunden is an amazing project with an over-all 'Selby'-feeling. Depth interviews, combined with interior- and surrounding-pictures form the firm base of this website. Interesting people from allover the world tell their stories - about art, background, the city they live in, the music they create, the culture they grew up to. Several book designers, artists, dj's, entrepreneurs and other creative souls explain their magnificent figments. My favourite apartment is from Magnus Reed, with the perfect dose of Scandinavian design and vintage which makes it a rare find.

LOOK | Carven

ph / Stockholm Streetstyle

I love how model Joan Smalls (left) pulls this look off. The contrast of bare legs and a colourful knit creates a balance between summer and winter, masculine and feminine. What I am wondering about: in what kind of season is this outfit appropriate to wear? Stumbled across the same Carven sweater just yesterday, on the body of Anne-Catherine. This lady styles it down with a bit more layers and longer pants. The cute cropped hair might be the perfect accessory, but only for real dare devils... How do you like it best? Summery or with a touch of winter?

EXCLUSIVE | Christopher Lemaire for the Corner

"To mark his debut at thecorner.com, acclaimed French designer Christophe Lemaire came up with the perfect summer wardrobe: a six-piece collection of easy, fresh and versatile garments. Inhabited by ideas of travel and timelessness, these exclusive styles combine exoticism-infused shapes and crisp black and white fabrics. Simplicity as its radical best."

Christopher Lemaire is one of the fresh winds blowing through the fashion industry. His latest fall collection (see for yourself here) was a different take on mens wear, for women. Loads of masculine influences mixted with skinny ribbed essentials and some sneaky sheer materials. Christopher is not the designer who is going to surprise you every new collection, but more the one with the best basics. Basics with a twist. These are six pieces to build your wardrobe with, an alphabet of sartorial forms. Here speaks a big fan of this concept, with a weak spot for the simple wedges and holy blouses, from 180 pounds.

READ | Tumblr Top 5

Since I am not some trendfollower on Pinterest, I still rely on the inspiration on Tumblr. Most likely to die a silent death? I don't think so. Read on and find out more about my favourite Tumblrs.

Minimaliste | Mia, 17, Norway
Breathtaking simple, this Minimaliste Tumblr by Mia. Obviously loads of white hues, modern architecture and design but also wild nature. Wide spaces, rough places, beauty lies within simplicity.

Lightning Factory | Zoé Hermsen, 20, Netherlands
Zoé uses her Tumblr moreover as an bundle of inspiration for her blog (similar named). Trends, like the brightness of neons, are translated from images into outfits. Trace the picture and the elaboration of the inspiration on tumblr and blog.

i-love-aestetics | Ivania Carpio, 20, Netherlands
No kidding, you never heard of her? This grey-haired lady runs one of the most influential blogs in the underground scene, Love Aesthetics. Her Tumblr is a reflection of her inspiration. Lots of see-through materials, DIY's, her lovely daughter and outfit pictures. Would love to see her Tumblr grow by adding some special, not-on-blog, material.

Ameille | Probably Ameille as well
A well done mixture of art, architecture, models and fashion is the secret behind Ameille. Futuristic, raw and often black-and-white photography, hints of surrealism and a sniff of rebellion hidden in a perfect lay-out.

SBHB | James Gallagher
Visual inspiration of a man who shares his last name with one of the greater musicians of the early 2000's. His Tumblr is one of my biggest influences in Dadaïsm, surrealism and eh, art-ism. Sometimes a bit obscene, you're a man or you aren't, but mostly brilliant. Geometrics, collages and drawing, come to mama.

Two days ago, the news has gotten to me that this brilliant label is going to make a step forward in the Netherlands, where I live. The new, highly designed store will be opened in August, so that we Dutchies are able to shop our fall collections in Scandinavian style!

DESIGN | iPhone Cases

This is not quite the post you would expect here, but since I got my already beloved iPhone almost a week ago, I am longing for a collection cases like these. Etsy.com has the biggest archive, full of magical prints, graphics, lovely handwritings and pantone-colours. An online museum full of cases, in the best springcolours you could ever imagine.

As I haven't decided which one to pick, I wanted to ask you to help me out. Which one is your favourite?
